HostGator has the edge on the surface because of the prices they have and what they offer for those prices (but I don’t know if they oversell?)

Most hosts these days oversell to a certain extent, it is the only way they can offer those massive space/bandwidth packages. I would sat Hsotgator oversells by a considerable margin just based on their shared hosting plans bandwidth vs price; though not as severly as Dreamhost does.
