Re: Plugin Requests
Is it possible to create plugins that are not open source?
I know there was some discussion a bit ago about this, but I never heard a resolution. Was it tied to textpattern’s license?

Re: Plugin Requests
A bit related to my previous post (and I seemed to have slept right through it)…wilshire has something hot going on in the PayPal integration department and people are throwing ransom bids at it like the fountain of youth.

Destry,
Last I checked, Wilshire is CUCKOO busy.
However, if enough money were drummed up, it might make it worth his while, although I doubt it – he seems that busy.
Perhaps he would share some wisdom with whoever does begin work? He’s quite kind. :)

Re: Plugin Requests
Thanks Matt, yeah, I figured he was, but I just wanted to rope similar things together for the sake of efficiency and whatnot.

Re: Plugin Requests
good call. you may send him an email just to check, as last time I checked, he hadn’t made me his official secretary yet, although I’ve been begging for the position for months! :)

Re: Plugin Requests
Just to stoke the flaims a bit more, here’s a bit of reading up if anyone has interest in the PayPal plugin:
(Warning: all large PDF files!)
- Standard Integration (merchant to PP back to merchant model) I think this is the model that the article at 29digital uses, Using Textpattern to manage an e-commerce website (warning, loads slow)
- Express Checkout Integration (Details use of express checkout API)
- Pro Integration (Details use of express checkout and direct payment API)
One of the last two are likely what Wilshire has gone with somehow, a bit more involved, but the advantage being the buyer never leaves the merchant’s site.
All very interesting reading, actually, if you have the time. Just thought I would throw that out there ;)

Re: Plugin Requests
Please add a $50 U.S. bid from me to the PayPal plugin.
Maybe we can keep a running tally going if more bids come in?

Bump: added Bastian’s claim and Destry’s bid.

Yep, that was the idea (for unclaimed plugins, leaving it open for the plugin developer to take it as-is or do a plugin ransom if they so desire).
