If the document contained PHP code, it would have confirmed a definite web server problem. What you’re seeing is probably just a red herring, firefox responding to an empty document in a quirky way.

One other suggestion: create a link under content > links, and include the problem Textile code in the link description. If that triggers the same behaviour, we know it’s not just the article page.
