Re: The Textpattern Blogmap is on its way
I found a bug in the plugin as it will not accept your description if it contains any apostrophes. Otherwise, nifty!

jdueck: I like your site though I’m not usually fond of quite that much minimalism. In this case it just works :)

Re: The Textpattern Blogmap is on its way
Dont’t cry, but at txpmag.com the russian and the greek letters are gone and they are replaced by ?.
I dont know why but i lost them copying the db. For some reason the new db-charset is something like latin_swedisch. I have saved them in a dump, but at the moment, i dont know how to transfer.
Sorry for those who used the special letters, but i will check later
BTW, perhaps it is not a bad idea, not to use those letters.
I dont understand them and there are still some people not able to read russian :)

Well I may be completely “off base” here so ignore me if you wish, but I often find it more convenient to create a new database directly through phpMyAdmin as you can specify the character set it uses that way. If you create the database through whatever control panel you have, it reverts to whatever default character set has been set up on the server. Of course you could create it via the control panel then go into phpMyAdmin and check the character set before you upload anything to it. Just a thought, but I’m no MySQL expert so don’t take that as gospel.

Re: The Textpattern Blogmap is on its way
Hi all,
TXP Blogmap develops really nice :) though still on and off people tend to go blind while reading the instructions.
Okay, here again: we solely accept correct submissions (correct path to image, correct description, correct username). Descriptions like: ‘ a blog about nothing’ or a missing image ..etc.. will not be accepted.
Till today i send private emails to everybody who submitted his/her blog but failed to submit f. e. a correct image path. Folks that is just too much work for us. So from now on, we will delete blogs not matching our standards.
To avoid getting deleted, just submit your blog and check your submission afterwards. That is really easy :), isn´t it.

Oh and be sure you don’t have a blog that the site admins have an ideological bias against, right?

Just in case (though I cannot see any ideological bias and you still had to show anything proofing your allegation): You can easily run a similar service for your very own ideology, can’t you?

my my, how inclusive. Forgive me for expressing the fact that something which claims to showcase the TXP “community” is actively biased against one part of that community.

Without having understood the details, isn’t it a pity to loose Toms balloon on the blog-map, considering the fact, that there are only around 110 entries world-wide.
As a member of the community, I would believe that the presence of his balloon on the map is a gain, and not a loss.
(I tried to understand if there is anything, that could be considered inappropriate , yet couldn’t find anything, except his passionate political activity, that personally I wouldn’t agree with either, but I’d be ready to believe, that channels of communication should be kept open in any form of democratic society)
regards, marios
