Brian, you should know by now that I don’t do color :D.

Have you ever seen me design anything with more than slight tints of grey?

Just as a side note….I HATE INTERNET EXPLORER!!!

Re: Textpattern Theme Competition

I hate grey text on white and grey on grey. it’s very tiring to read due to lack of contrast. :(

I’m coding it right now, so I’ll see if I can darken and lighten up the right things for you.

Re: Textpattern Theme Competition

I should get started then, eh?
This contest should have no problem getting off the ground because TXP is the absolute easiest CMS/Blog system to design for, period.

And, although it doesn’t concern this topic too much, Textile is my savior. I love it 100x better than any other post editor, like FCKeditor, etc.

Good work! Can’t wait to see the themes that are pumped out.

Coded and ready to go

Yeah, compared with the Typo contest which received over 100 submissions, we should get a lot more. I couldn’t even figure out how to install Typo, much less make a theme.

Re: Textpattern Theme Competition

I have a theme in the works now. :) This should be fun. Can we submit more than one theme?

Re: Textpattern Theme Competition

Thame,
For what its worth, I find the grays very appealing, relaxing, and when the colored templates roll in, it will maintain its elegance. Well done. The txp community is picking up. This is tight!

I know. I kind of like it. Its something of a style of yours. I think color is over used at times.

For instance: http://www.deportmaria.org/wp/

Prior to this design it looked like: http://www.designshack.co.uk/deportmania.html

I realize some people like this type of wild design, but I’m not one of them.

And I HATE INTERNET EXPLORER TOO!!

Re: Textpattern Theme Competition

Thanks for all the kind words everyone, I’m very excited about the contest too.

ma_smith: Yes, also, the individual content pages will have the sponsors on the bottom, so the colors of the sponsors’ logos will be replaced by the template screenshot. So that should keep the focus on the templates.

hcgtv: The first prize is a lottery ticket, so it isn’t guaranteed… :D

Nichod: Thanks. Let’s not call it a “style” though…it’s more of a limitation :D
When I finished coding the layout (checking it in Firefox), I opened it up in IE and was shocked. I’ve seen IE mess up some things in the past, but this was ridiculous. I ended up having to throw in some extra <code>div</code>‘s to get it to work.
