Re: [wiki] TextBook wiki redesign planning

OK, I’ve made a little headway here. I couldn’t move the toolbar to the bottom; some strange wiki buziness doesn’t make that immediately intuitive, so I’ve simply plopped it into the bottom of the left column.

Search is moved, and left column lists are one step closer to getting some new clothes.

You may have to log out and back in again to see the changes…due to wiki needs…but you only have to do it once.

Re: [wiki] TextBook wiki redesign planning

Strangely, I see the new look only when I kepp logged out. Once I log back in, I have the old look back (including the MediaWiki logo and all). I deleted the cookie but to no avail.

Ideas?

You probably need to log in, go to your preferences, and set your skin to the TextBook skin, you might have the old default monobook set.

It’s working for me both logged in and out.

Ah, I see. Didn’t think of that. Now all’s fine.

That’s starting to look really clean Destry.

Nice job.

Re: [wiki] TextBook wiki redesign planning

Thanks…looks like Mozilla has bee doing some wiki redoing too. Now this, DevMo Wiki, is more along the lines of what I forsee TextBook aiming to…full screen, liquid, and breaking the wornout ‘monobook’ mold.

Anyway, just speculating here. Curiosities and such.

Re: [wiki] TextBook wiki redesign planning

Destry,

All the Mozilla sites have that clean, uncluttered look, using whatever backend they choose.

The DevMo site is just another example of this simple design, carried over from their other sites.

Re: [wiki] TextBook wiki redesign planning

Yeah, there nice. I realize now too that DevMo and Moz Wiki are two different sites (devs and users, respectively), but both done with MediaWiki nonetheless.

Also, I’ve managed to solve my inline styling problems, or rather, how to avoid inline styling. Needed to add the exact parent div in the rules; they’re now styled from the external css file as desired. Not that anyone should care, but just thought I’d mention it to cover my tracks.
