Re: XML-RPC for Textpattern 4.0 - test release

If you’re getting a 404 then you’re probably using the wrong URL—it really shouldn’t be an .htaccess problem unless something is seriously wrong. What URL are you using?

Re: XML-RPC for Textpattern 4.0 - test release

ok… seems like xml-rpc is messed up on my hosts servers… somethign has changed… now none of my sites (some WP and another TXP) will work with anything using xmlrpc… flickr wont work on any of the other sites (which I had working)

I’ve been looking to switch hosts recently… so this might be yet another reason to switch

Re: XML-RPC for Textpattern 4.0 - test release

It could be an .htaccess issue, I suppose. Some hosts do strange things that break mod_rewrite in strange ways.

Re: XML-RPC for Textpattern 4.0 - test release

well I’ve changed hosts… and now I get a different error:

getUsersBlogs() error: Your login (allen, PASSWORD) didn’t validate.

thats my user name and I’m using my password for txp.

Re: XML-RPC for Textpattern 4.0 - test release

Ecto seems to work quite well, at least for titles and articles, sections are seen as different blogs,

I’ve allso seen this error,

<pre>“getRecentPosts() error: couldn’t retrieve list of recent posts.”</pre>

What get’s overlooked maybe sometimes out of forgetting is this

Re: XML-RPC for Textpattern 4.0 - test release

I’m trying to use this xml-rpc version on my site with 2 different client: Qumana and Performancing for Firefox.

I’m experiencing some problem. I don’t know if this is the latest xml-rpc version, or if I have to use another one. I’m reporting my problems to collect some feedback and give some hints to developer.

  1. On Qumana problems are that I can’t delete post for unsupported method. In Performancing I don’t have the problem, so I suppose it’s just a matter of methods supporting, but inf anyone want to test…
  2. In both clients I have trouble with textile. No matter the settings in admin preference, the newline in the editor are regularly converted in br. No paragraphs are built. No way to disable textile. This is a major problem, that I think is Textpattern peculiar.
  3. I can’t control some specific fields like the urls (built without hyphens), and obviously the custom fields. But for that I think there is no easy solution…

If some one has experienced some of this problem and has found a solution, or can point me to a newer working version of xml-rpc, is welcome.

Bye

This is probably a bit pointless nowadays, but xrt 2.1 has finally been (officially) released – just in case anybody still wants it.

After poking around for a while, I’m not sure I get what you mean by pointless. Is there some built-in xml-rpc functionality in txp now? I see IXRClass.php in lib, but I don’t know how to make use of it.

And to make matters worse, pixelmeadow seems to be down (for redesign?) at the moment, so I can’t even get to xrt. Does anybody have a spare copy?

edit: Ahh, I see a bit of explanation here — so I need to checkout a development version?

I don’t think so, I haven’t seen any XML-RPC related checkins to the crockery or 4.0.x branches.

Pedro Palazon (“kusor”) was looking for beta-testers at the end of February, but I haven’t heard anything of the efforts since then. I was about to ask here in the forums if somebody has any update about the state of the “official XML-RPC remote blogging extension”. Can we still hope?

Would also be interesting to know which xml-rpc version finally works better, I haven’t checked the pixelmeadow one yet.

Re: XML-RPC for Textpattern 4.0 - test release

Well, I copied and pasted the code in, except TP says it is badly formed and won’t accept it. I am running 4.0.3 Any ideas? I just want to use my ecto to post with. I miss it. ;-)
