Re: Posts Via Email

So people, if you want to use it it is here:

You just have to find a way of integrating this into textpattern, maybee as a module or plugin. I lay out the seeds, up to you to harverst. (I dont have time to intregrate this, but you can always ask for help if you stuck.)

Have fun,

Sidney

Re: Posts Via Email

Bumped as a request. If various email and server variables, or whatever, make this a pain, maybe something to consider as an add-on for TextDrive’s chosen email/server config? It would be fantastic feature when, for example, coupled with a txp tag for the emailed/phoned input — breaking news ticker, live updates, TextCam (trademark it now!) etc. Another concern is that the CMS aspects of TxP would be greatly enhanced by such an addition. Email is used by even the most basic dial-up users and content creation would therefore remain in a tried and trusted interface for a wider variety of authors.

Re: Posts Via Email

Coming from Dotclear world (well known french weblog) I would like to use a tools with more powerful CMS tools in it… By looking around, it seems that Textpattern could answer my needs… The only point which still makes me not so happy is the fact that Textpattern does not support posting articles trhough emails….
I have seen the proposed solution by using xml-rps plugin + flickr but I would like to not use Flickr…
I think that know be able to send text and photos through emails (aka moblogging) is a must…….
So in one word : BUMP!!

Re: Posts Via Email

Bumps don’t write code. People write code.

There are plenty of things you can do to help even if you’re not a coder: design the email format, write use cases, documentation, examples, anticipate likely problems (security?), figure out how to test it, etc.

Re: Posts Via Email

I am not a coder but, as I have done for dotclear, I am ready to help in this area by beta testing and giving ideasfor implementation ( I am waiting precise information about the post-by-mail plugin implementation in Dotclear in order to share it here)

<blockquote> Milkman wrote: I just read this post and i’m actually using such a script to post from a mobile phone. It’s called Easymoblog: click here. “….” This could be real fun for textpattern to implement.
Easymonlog uses a batch script that catches emails every x minutes on a pop account that you previously chose, uses gd to create thumbnails of pictures attachements and finally it posts the whole thing. So…check it out!</blockquote>

Thanks Milkman I’ll check that out, and by the way “bienvenue” :-)
(Did you check the french forum ?)
