Re: I18n

I am not able to remember that I have started this thread in the plgins forum by accident or wheather it has been moved there later on.
But in any case,it belongs to the Localization forum, so if any admin could move it over there , would be great.

My appologies,if I did this by accident.
BTW.:Admins Change the title of this thread then to Greek localization.(If that makes sense)…:))

regards,marios

Re: I18n

marios, my translation has advanced to near 100% and it’s revision 383-ready. I’d appreciate it if you sent me yours to compare even if it’s not complete.

Re: I18n

Now there’s a fix to the gibberish-in-the-title problem:

Edit txplib_head.php, line 26 from:

<title>Textpattern & #8250; <?php echo strtolower($pagetitle)?></title>

to:

<title>Textpattern & #8250; <?php echo mb_strtolower($pagetitle, "UTF-8")?></title>

Requires PHP 4.3 and above with multibyte string support.

To get rid of the rest of the gibberish, you have to change the occurences of strtolower() to mb_strtolower() with “UTF-8” as a second argument.

Re: I18n

Etz Heim,
Thanks a lot for your advise above,
I did some corrections on the language file, see below for details, note that I left some terms in English on purpose,a few other ones I have no Idea how they could be translated.(like “Breadcrumb trail” for example).I am allso not sure about forms.(and formtags).

Of course you will still find some orthograhic mistakes,I allso saw that there are no date language files, but Textpattern is still calling for them somewhere,so what to do here to localize date,I don’t know.

So here goes:

<code>

active => ενε

Re: I18n

Etz, Heim if you need the source file, which is in UTF-8, please send me an e-mail,

I am allso interested to hear your opinion on how some of the special terms should be translated.

BTW,the red submit button is to small for the text.

with best regards, marios

Re: I18n

marios, thanks for the input. I’ve used some of your ideas and now I’m awaiting some feedback from the i18ngr list (lists.hellug.gr) to add the final touches to the translation.

Re: I18n

Etz Heim,

Note that I havn’t translated the language names for the admin panel , so why is that ?

Answer:It didn’t make any sense to me, because let’s say that a user changes accidentaly the language to thai, for example ,that would be extremely confusing from a usability point of view, to figure out how to switch back to your desired language, while when the stay in english it is easear for allmost every one.

What is your opinion about “ bread crumb trail’,“forms”, and and “logs” ?

What a about the date localization, since TXP now hands it over to the operating system ,on my machine for example it doesn’t show up correctly in the admin panel.(Many users in Greece do not have their locale in greek, like me for example, I guess that’s why it doesn’t show up correctly)

regards, marios

Re: I18n

I changed the width property of the input.publish element in textpattern.css to 90px to account for proper display of publish button.

Some glitches with the td.tabups are not so easy to fix since the whole thing is hardcoded.

But else then that it looks pretty good.

bst regards,

marios

Re: I18n

That’s it! After having received the kind of feedback I wanted, I mailed Dean with my translation. It should find its way into the distribution soon.

Re: I18n

Etz Heim,I had a look at the language file today, nice work.
I left a bugreport about the nasty parsing problems, where most of them disappear with what you suggested.
However the problem in the e-mail subject field remains.
If you’d like to comment on this any further that’ll be nice, since we are only a bunch of poeple who are interested in this,

with bst rgrds, marios
