Date on events doesn't change
I am using Textpattern CMS · 4.5.7. There is an event panel I use with articles which announce events. Some events recur, so I mark them as hidden when they are over and then update them and mark them as live. In the events panel I always change the date for the event and I reset the timestamp to now before I save it. However, with the latest update to Textpattern, the “date” listed at the bottom of the page doesn’t change, and the it is the old date which appears in the events list. Also, the event does not show up in the new place in the graphical calendar. I would rather not have to do an entirely new article, and it always accepted the updates before. Is there some place else I can update the date, or was this functionality eliminated when I updated versions? (I am sorry if I am not using correct terminolgy—my web designer daughter, “Opalcat” set this all up for me, but since she died, I am trying to do it all myself.)

No, that’s not been removed. Did you use the checkbox “Set timestamp to now”?

Does the Diagnostics panel (Admin > Diagnostics) show you an “All checks passed” message or is there something like “Some files have been modified”?
Might also be an incompatible plugin. Please post the contents of the diagnostics textarea.

Re: Date on events doesn't change
One more idea: The “Set timestamp to now” checkbox makes an old article into a whole new one by removing the “modified” line below the excerpt field. Perhaps the website is set up to use the article’s modified
entry.
Hence, additionaly to the above points: Could you try to find out which form it is that creates your website’s event panel and whether there’s a <txp:modified>
tag in it or <txp:posted>
? (Please post that form’s code.) Maybe there is smd_where_used installed (Extensions > Where used), that’s an enormously helpful tool for such tasks. If not: see the link in my signature.

Re: Date on events doesn't change
Your website is using some very old plugins, some which are no longer needed (for example asy_wondertag). I don’t know if that could be a reason.
But I think you’ll need someone to update not only Textpattern, but also plugins, codes etc.

Re: Date on events doesn't change
My daughter created this website for me, and she died 3 years ago, leaving me to run it myself—this is not something I know how to do! I am upgrading the Textpattern. How do I tell which plugins need to be updated?

Re: Date on events doesn't change
If you want to trust me, then you can send me the access data by email and I will look where the problem is. But I don’t have time until Wednesday.

Re: Date on events doesn't change
hmmm, you are also using postmaster. This means that you can not upgrade to the 4.6 branch. Unless of course you no longer send emails through it.

Requests for the favicon are not handeled by TXP. This reduces the load on the server when the favicon file doesn’t exist, because letting the webserver generate a 404 response is more efficient than firing up TXP to do the same thing.
