Version 4.05 is up – download link int he first post of this thread.
Mostly bug fixes, small changes to handle smd_admin_themes plugin. The collapsible panes on the Write pane are no longer position on top of their headers on wide screen computers. Apparently most users did’t really like that.

Another update with small bug fixes, improved ability to load additional custom stylesheets and custom JS files. As an added bonus, the TXP logo is now a link to the default panel, as set in the preferences.

I like that you put Form name and Form type on the same line. Nice, thanks.

:-). Yeah, trying to optimise the available space on various devices.
That is not always as easy as I would like. Admin-side plugins can inject themselves and “mess up” things, thus trying to keep things more or less in line with what the default Textpattern theme does. I’m more aggressive for my personal version where I have full control, I know which plugins I use etc.
Thanks for your feedback.

What plugins I do use, it’s to enhance the front end experience, rather than add functionality to the backend. So I’m learning the ways of the admin-themes, studying what you’ve done against Phil’s Hive and Neutral. Seeing what I can or can’t do in the constraints.
Here’s my take, I like phw_sandspace for the Content, Hive for the Presentation. The way you did the write panel is soothing, but Hive’s text areas lends itself better for code, less scrolling. I’m going to play around, mockup some ideas for a Textpattern IDE like theme.

Is the problem the overall height of those textareas, or is it one of font-size? Hive uses a smaller font-size, esp. for the code textareas, the overall height is close to similar between the two themes, I think.
(font-size is one of those terrible topics for discussion… me prefers larger – grumpy old man with fading eyes…).
