count and print number of articles in a category, or section

i did search for this.. but came up without luck..

is there a plugin that already does this? i know there’s the gbl_blog_stats plugin that very nicely prints the total number of comments and entries for the site…

what about one that prints the total number of articles in a category, or in a section?

that would be cool. :)

I don’t think I“ve heard of one, but it wouldn’t be too hard to do I think. Might have to review the MySQL functions, but I think there’s a count(field) sort of thing…

Re: count and print number of articles in a category, or section

Thank you, I’ve been waiting for this some time. But… when I use it, I get this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: latts() in /home/httpd/vhosts/doggiez.nl/httpdocs/textpattern/publish.php(764) : eval()’d code on line 1915

Does it mean I’m doing something wrong?

Re: count and print number of articles in a category, or section

Whoops!

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: latts() in /home/username/public_html/textpattern/publish.php(769) : eval()’d code on line 227

My code: <txp:mem_article_count section="journal" />

Also, would it be possible to get total comments as well?

(BTW – I second the post below me. Many thanks at going after this plugin!)

Manfre, i’d just like to say that, though it seems to need a bit of repair (i’ve not yet tried it), i love that you stepped forward to make it.. i’m looking forward to using it :)

thank you!

Re: count and print number of articles in a category, or section

Just wondering whether this still works with 4.0.3?

Re: count and print number of articles in a category, or section

I don’t know exactly how to ask this question but….
I just want to put this on the page without specifying the category. Basically like how <code><txp:category1 title=“1” /></code> will automatically spit out the name of the current directory. Is this possible with this plug?
