Link to welovetxp.com in FAQ

I suggest to remove the link to welovetxp.com in this FAQ: What kind of web sites does Textpattern do best?. Either that or ask Sam to update his site. I just had a look at http://welovetxp.com/?q=photography and found that 11 of the 18 sites listed there either don’t exist or don’t use Txp anymore. If that’s representative of the rest of the site it’s doing more harm than good…

And related…

Go to the docs

Find the section labeled Website Examples

Select TXP Mag’s Sites Collection

Look through the Gallery of very well designed TXP Sites or the lists underneath. It isn’t very positive results.

I hate to create more work for someone, but I really think the best place to create a site showcase is textpattern.com (e.g. WordPress Showcase). Relying on third parties for this sort of thing is always going to be potentially problematic under the best of circumstances.

Re: Link to welovetxp.com in FAQ

Els, I noticed the same thing the other day while updating the Textpattern planet site.

Michael, I’ve said it before, we need more people involved in the day to day running of Textpattern. There’s more to a project than just coding.

Watching all the spam posts earlier reminded me that once upon a time I was a forum moderator. I would be glad to contribute in some manner again.

Michael, perhaps Sam can use some help maintaining welovetxp?

So I assume he officially won’t be updating the site anymore… that’s a pity.
I hope someway we will find an alternative because —other than enjoying it myself— I believe a nice site showcase plays an important role in a cms “public image”.
Of course I’m aware it’s easier said than done so maybe I shoud just shut up.

Yes, I was a moderator at one time also. Wonder what happened to the upgrading the forum idea?

I actually wrote Alexandra recently regarding this thread but didn’t hear back.

I will send Sam an e-mail sometime today.

It would be very nice if something came out of that, both sites deserve better, and like redbot said Txp could benefit from them.
