htaccess 301 redirect help please?

I’ve needed to change a part of a site url structure from:

www.mysite.com/forums/… (lots of pages here)
to (forums becomes forum)
www.mysite.com/forum/… (lots of pages here)

Can anyone please help me out writing the htaccess 301 redirect to make sure that when people enter the site via a link with forums in that they are redirected to the new url with forum.
