Please help: Trademark and domain name question
I’ve been contacted by a Chinese domain registrar asking if i object to his client buying the same domain name as one I have but with the .eu .net .ce and loads of others. The registrar tells me his client will then register the domain name as a trade mark and request I give up my .com version.
Surely this can’t be right – any thoughts would be welcome as they have given me a 3 day limit to respond.
Best wishes
Lee

Re: Please help: Trademark and domain name question
I think I received a few of those e-mail. It looked like a spam/scam and a quick Google search confirmed my suspicions. Care to post the text of that e-mail? Or look it up on Google just to check if others have received the same mails as your?

If I had one penny for each of those scam mails I’ve had the pleasure to see so far, I wouldn’t need to work any more.

It’s all nonsense. I actually contacted Pairnic, where the domains were registered, and they told me to just ignore it. No one can take over your domain. They’re trying to sell you Asian domain names, which, as Pairnic pointed out, could be worth a thought, only if you were planning to branch out into those markets.
