Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ebl_Upload Version 3

The htaccess file contains only the standard Textpattern rules plus the following:

<IfModule mod_security.c>
	SecFilterEngine Off
	SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>

…which were necessary to make the plugin work with mod_security on Textdrive.

Adding the lines as suggested by Joe didn’t make any difference.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ebl_Upload Version 3

I went on to experiment with another site, also on Textdrive, where I had been using ebl_upload for images without problems.

I had never attempted to upload files with it before on that install, so first thing I did was to increase the upload limit to 40MB. However the result was the same: selecting any file larger than 2MB immediately throws up the message_“File to Large: Not added to queue”_.

Anything smaller than 2MB goes through without a hitch. Also using txp’s built-in upload works fine for larger files.

What could be the problem?

Martin,

The .htaccess file fix to alter the max file upload size doesn’t always work, it depends on your hosting company’s setup . I note that Textdrive has a procedure for creating your own php.ini file in their shared hosting. They provide a default ini file for one to use (PHP 5) which contains these lines:

file_uploads = On
upload_tmp_dir = /usr/local/www/php/tmp
upload_max_filesize = 40M

I note that you seem to have the 40M limit defined already though and it isn’t helping with Eric’s plug-in. I have normally only ventured into this area to limit the file upload size rather than to increase it when I had clients uploading ridiculously large image files on their WP based blog, for instance. In that case the .htaccess file fix worked but it wasn’t on Textdrive. On the odd occasion when I needed to increase the limit for a client, amending the TXP preferences setting worked for me but again, it wasn’t on a Textdrive hosted site. There was also an instance where we solved the problem by creating a .htaccess file in the equivalent directory to TXP files with the requisite lines.

Maybe Joyent could throw some light on the issue for you.

Joe

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ebl_Upload Version 3

I get the same result on a Mosso hosted site:

File to Large: Not added to queue

when I try to upload a 3.2 MB sized file via the plug-in interface. This despite changing the TXP preference to 5MB and also successfully amending the local php.ini setting to 50M from the 2M default setting ( as witnessed by phpino() ).

Thanks for testing, Joe.

I think at this point it’s safe to say, that it can’t be a server-side issue, also since Textpattern uploads larger files sucessfully.

Out of curiosity I tried lowering the maximum size in the prefs to 1MB. When selecting a 1.9MB file ebl_upload did not complain it was exceeding the limit. It even finished the upload without probs.

?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ebl_Upload Version 3

Hi Eric,

just wondering whether you had a chance to look into this.
No problem at the moment, but I might want to purchase another license to install on a client’s side, and it would be good if we could get to the root of the issue.

Send me logon info for the site(s) in question and I’ll see if I can get it fixed. I’m curious why this is.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ebl_Upload Version 3

BTW, it would be helpful if you could opt out of your plugin for files. I just need it for pictures. I commented out the lines that add your interface to the files tab and it works. Though I only know a little, I’m reckless enough to try anything. This time, I think I got lucky. :-)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ebl_Upload Version 3

Sorry. I’ve been swamped with various different client work and haven’t had to time to release an updated version of this plugin that fixes a nagging bug. What you should do is go into preferences, and where you see ebl_valid_img_type you’ll also see the following file types. gif,bmp,jpg,png, add the following to it : GIF,BMP,JPG,PNG

The problem is the accepted file types are case sensitive. Dumb bug, but I’ll try to get around to fixing it sometime this week time permitting.
