Cufón...the sIFR killer?

Cufón looks very promising for working with more non-web-safe fonts in your site designs. Just came to know of it via Stop Design via HicksDesign.

Anyone tried it yet?

Re: Cufón...the sIFR killer?

Me. Very easy to implement. The only drawback is, if I got it correctly, you need a JS library such as jQuery in order to precisely select which elements you want to replace (eg: #sidebar li a), otherwise by default it can only pick general elements such as h1, h2, a, etc…

I also noticed a buggy behavior on hovers, but that could be just me.

Re: Cufón...the sIFR killer?

I believe replaced text is no longer available for copy/paste in contrast to SiFR, right?

Yea, i really don’t like the unselectability of cufon (and the similar typeface.js) I still prefer either regular sIFR, or lately the jquery version of sIFR

Actually, you can select it – at least individual words, not between letters. But, in Firefox, the selected-highlight does not appear. Read more about this at Viget: Inspire

Another option is the trusty ol’ Zem Image Replace which is pretty damn flexible and seems to be rock solid.

Seems like I was late to know about Cufon. Thanks for the replies.

Dale, good reminder on zem’s plugin. Thanks.
