Under Administration->Options you can set whether or not to show this info. It’s all or none, except for a separate option to show the post count.

Each user then has a couple of options under Profile.

simon, you can use Extra Profile Fields to hold the new information. But you’ll still need to modify some PHP files to display the fields.
