is 4.0.5 still planned or made into 4.1??
sorry, if this question is uninformed (busy with otehr stuff lately)
is a release of 4.0.5 still in the pipeline or will there be 4.1 instead, anytime soon, even?
is there approximate timeframes for releases both of them?
don’t want to hurry you guys, just asking.

Who’d care about version numbers, when the first official release of a product was dubbed 4.0? 4.0.4 contains a few bug which are fixed in the SVN repository so it’ll make sense to bake this into an official release, hopefully. Christmas approaches ;-)
Of more importance to me are the licence changes which are planned for the next major version (whatever number this will carry) which will establish a base for commercial contributions.

hcgtv, i assume that is the development version of your own site? i am runnign a development version (lower version umber) on a live site (my failure), which seems okay at the moment, therefore i am sort of hesitating to apply the current svn changes to this now, before this is not called an official release.

jayrope, I run the latest SVN on one of my sites, this allows me to file bug reports quicker since I’m using it on a daily basis.
wet, the license change, from what I understand will be for the Crockery branch. The 4.0.x branch would remain GPL forever, at least that’s my understanding.

There will be both, a 4.0.5 and a 4.1.0. The former has small incremental changes (mostly bugfixes) and is intended as a maintenance release, i.e. mostly for people who have already running installations.
4.1.0 will introduce new features, and will not be fully compatible (this is necessary to be able to introduce some new things), and will mostly likely be interesting for people creating new sites. and yes, there will be an upgrade path to move the content over (articles, images, files, users etc.), however some things like templates, plugins and configuration-options will need manual work for the move – which is the exact reason that we will continue to maintain 4.0.x for those people that are not willing or able or simply have no interest to invest the time/effort necessary for an upgrade to a new major release.
And 4.1.0 is still some time away, details on that will arise once there are beta-releases available.
