SVN slowing down

Over the past couple of days I’ve noticed slowdowns at dev.textpattern.com.

Updating SVN via Tortoise takes a while, forget about looking at the logs.

The timeline feed on Textpattern Planet keeps timing out on me also.

Re: SVN slowing down

I have quite the same problem… but only worse… i can’t even update via TortoiseSVN.
I get an error:
Report: request failed on ‘/!svn/vcc/default’
Report: of ‘/!svn/vcc/default: 400 Bad Request (http://svn.textpattern.com)
if anyone knows what that means (btw, it tries to load for quite some time at 0bytes/sec.

Anyone else can’t connect to svn?

Re: SVN slowing down

I’m just wondering if anyone minds putting up a Txp Nightly zip/tar.

Re: SVN slowing down

It’s working fine for me – just downloaded the latest 4.0 yesterday. I use SVN with command line on windows though, which is a little faster than Tortoise (in my experience).

  1. Download a copy of Subversion (the installer).
  2. Install
  3. Winkey+R
  4. cmd
  5. svn export http://svn.textpattern.com/development/4.0/

The files will be saved in C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\4.0, but you can use cd My Documents or Desktop before svn to set the location.

Re: SVN slowing down

SVN access has been hit and miss over the last few days, even the Trac timeline times out every so often.

I use Tortoise on Windows, when I have problems I go over to my Debian server and try SVN via the command line and it also has issues.

I think Textdrive has been changing things lately, hopefully they’ll all get sorted out.

A nightly cron job to tar up the /development/4.0 directory and put it up on the Trac Wiki would be a good idea.

I second this.

I tried it via command line like jim explained (thx!), but it doesn’t work that way either. I would really appreciate a textpattern nightly.

Re: SVN slowing down

That would be a good idea, but I think TeamTXP doesn’t because newbies could download a dev release (think I read that somewhere).

I just went with svn and grabbed a new copy. There’s about a ~10-15sec lag before it starts listing files.

EDIT: Removed download link, since the version was already outdated.

Re: SVN slowing down

Sorry about that – appears 7zip didn’t do its job. Try it now.
