Kjeld, thnks for setting up a test-site, I was just going to ask you you about that :)

When searching for “Lor” we get one result, when searching for Lorem we get no result. This is consistent with my speculation that it has to do with the recent changes we made to improve the search functionality (it uses different functions to search for words with <4 characters and those with >4 characters). I asume this has to do with you still using mysql3.23.*, of course we’ll try to get this resolved before the final 4.0.4 release, since mysql3 is the minimum requirement for Textpattern 4.0.x.

Sidenote: When searching for short words on your live-site there are no results either (it says 5 results, but I see no links/snippets), so you may additionally have a template problem. Can you open a seperate topic for that and post your tagtrace and/or template code for that? Thanks.

I just updated Simplified Chinese langage file and catched up with the latest <code>en-gb.txt</code> on <code>http://rpc.textpattern.com/lang/</code>. It’s a big update, including adding the missing strings, adjusting the words according to the glossary on TextBook, and typo things.

So, Mary or Sencer, I think you should update the Simplified Chinese part of <code>setup-langs.php</code> from the updated file before 4.0.4’s release.

But the fresh install at http://www.japanesestreets.com/txttest should work out of the box, right? Search gives no results there, either. That’s why I figured that the problem doesn’t lay with my code.

O.K. I’ve been playing around with rc1 and some of the plug-ins I use most often. I wasn’t quite sure whether it’s better to post those here or in the respective plug-in’s thread, but here it goes:

the Insert Image command of Mary’s image popper is missing from the write tab
I can’t seem to get automatic thumbnail generation on upload to work
glx_admin_image appears to work fine except that txp ignores the checkbox Resize large image, stored value 500px – the image comes in at full size.

(all of this works fine in 4.0.3)

I noticed some nice touches such as when you expand the advanced options in the write tab things don’t jump around anymore. Haven’t had the time to check it out in more depth yet.

Kjeld: at the top of your page you’ve got these errors:

tag_error <txp:article limit=10 searchall=0 /> -> Textpattern Warning: Can’t find FULLTEXT index matching the column list

There is the source of the problem on that Txp install: the fulltext index (or search index) is missing. We can put it back, though. Have you got something like phpMyAdmin handy?

Textpattern doesn’t auto-generate thumbnails. I believe there have been some plugins that did that, though?

Here come the good news: It does, and it works fine on my sites running 4.0.4rc1 if the preferred thumb width is set in the preferences.

Thanks, I was beginning to think I had imagined that.

It now does work for me, too. However the thumbs are not created preserving the original images’ aspect ratio. If I upload a portrait format pic the resulting thumb is squished to landscape format.
