category list sort in 4.0.4

I see in textbook that 4.0.4 will have a much improved category list tag. For one thing, it allows the sort order to be controlled by an attribute: categories=“comma separated category list”

By default it’s alphabetical of course. Would there be anyway though to control sort direction?

If you’re listing literature or history by decade or century, you might want to have it reversed: 1960’s, 1950’s, 1940’s … without having to maintain a list of your categories in your tag. Doing so, mixes content and presentation too much, especially when developing a site for a less tech savvy user.

thnx,
m

Re: category list sort in 4.0.4

On a related note: I see that you can list categories that only belong to a specific parent category. Will you be able to keep this parent from being listed with its children? So that the parent is strickly for organizing categories on the backend?

I don’t imagine the category list will output a heirarchical list that can be controlled with CSS.

Where exactly did you see that?

All boundaries are for practical purposes only.
