txp 4.8.3: How to get txp:password_protect working

Hi,
can anyone help me how to get a working <txp:password_protect> ?
None of my efforts ended in a solution.

It doesn’t work, because it obviously doesnt’t take the input.

All the old threads do not end in a solution with password_protect, but with other plugins and tags.
As far as I understood, password_proetect doesn’t work in PHP server API: cgi-fcgi-Mode

But an AddHandler like those privided in the threads AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .php simply results in output of the php-code itself.

What can or should I really do, to get a working password_protection with this tag?

I’d very much like to use the txp-code, and not another plugin.

Could you provide more details, please? And also test it on demo server which is in fpm-fcgi mode.
