Moved installation won't save preferences

I am in the process of moving my Textpattern installation to a new hosting service. I copied the mysql database and all the files over exactly, and it mostly works. When I try to alter anything in the Textpattern preferences though, it says that it has saved them, but moving off of the page in the browser and returning shows the preferences unchanged. Any idea what has gone squirrelly?

Textpattern version is 4.5.7 (want to get it working before upgrading).

are all the file paths in preferences reflected for your new installation? do you have MLP as part of your installation?

have you tried login out and then logging back in to verify. a;so have you tried wit ha different browser

All the file paths are correct. The installation seems to work fine, as far as browsing it. I’ve used Firefox and Chromium, and they both don’t work.

The IP address is the new website, since the original DNS still points to to old one.

disable all plugins and see if problem still persists

Are modifications to articles saved? If not, it could be some caching issue that influences the whole site.

I don’t have any plugins, I don’ think. Modifications to pages don’t stick either.

It could be either a cookies or a cache problem.

Also is txp 4.5.7 compatible with PHP 5.6.30?

I blasted all history in Chromium and tried again. It still doesn’t save preferences, and now some things on the website are broken.

How do I check PHP compatibility? Which do you think is older?
