Jquery 1.12.0 ! Why not 2.2 ?

hi,

I see in the last commit
github.com/textpattern/textpattern/commit/d2c030594633e36fb2411c851b3b20d346ac61a1 philwareham update Back-office Jquery version to 1.12.0

I thought I understood that Txp 4.6 drop support for IE8 and IE9. If it’s the case, why not go for jquery 2.2?

See here – basically it’s in case any plugin authors rely on jQuery 1.x short-term.

Ok, it’s planned. Cool.

But for me Jquery 2.2 and 1.12 has exactly the same compatibity. No difference, just IE8- support.
If a plugin is compatible with 1.12, he is with 2.2 too.

Some migrations were necessary for update to jquery 1.9+ .
Txp 4.5.7 turn with jquery 1.8.3 and actually Txp 4.6 with 1.12. A migration is perhaps allready necessary for all plugins that use Jquery.

Upgraded to 2.2 now change nothing else.

OK, I’ll need confirmation from other devs, but I’m not against updating to jQuery 2.x before 4.6 release.
