From Posterous to Textpattern
I’ve started using Posterous (withremote.posterous.com) to submit blog posts via email from my iPhone. The thing is, it’s just another site to maintain. Is anyone using the Posterous “autopost” feature to post to a textpattern blog via its XML-RPC server
Per Posterous support:
If Textpattern supports metaweblog, we should be able to post to it:
posterous.com/help/autopost_metaweblog
I guess I assumed my endpoint was http://www.withremote.com/rpc but posterous doesn’t like it
Oops. We ran into 1 problem!
Try to fix these issues and try again.
- We were not able to authenticate this account. Reason: We could not find a valid endpoint
Thanks for any advice!

Never used RPC, but assume you turned on the “Enable XML-RPC server?” preference under Preferences > Advanced? Its turned off by default in 4.2.

Yep, that was the first thing I did!

Didn’t test it with posterous but my experience with delicious.com shows that some applications don’t like the ‘directory’ endpoint instead of a file. I don’t know why. You may ask wet if he is able to analyze the issue.
A workaround would be to use the plug-in asv_tumblelog to import the posterous RSS feed items as articles.

ecklesroad, i’m curious how you fare with this project. i was about to start a new posterous site, but with the amount of work i’ll have to do for theming, i’d rather start off with a TXP core.

Re: From Posterous to Textpattern
Just spent a few days with Posterous. the system they
built is so amazing.
I think it’s well worth examining how it can integrate with txp better. Will start with the rss plugin suggestion. Maybe textpattern cab become a recognized supporter of their “auto post” feature too?

@mrtunes No I haven’t been able to get into it much for a while, although when I have some time I’d like to find a solution to this. Yes, the posterous system is awesome and can be updated in many ways, including from my iPhone, which is big thing I’d like to be able to do with my txp sites (other than trying to look at the admin side in Safari).
@whaleen TXP Core? You mean the basic install of TXP or is this something else?

before giving it a few posts – i used to think what is the big deal about posterous and tumblr. tumblr i still don`t really care much for, but posterous is quite the revelation in blogging. if i want to write a long well-thought out post i am still happy doing that in textpattern. but not the rapid-fire kinds.

wow, I just got it work! http://www.withremote.com/Articles/121/starting-some-new-paintings
you need <link rel="EditURI" type="application/rsd+xml" title="RSD" href="http://www.mysite.com/rpc/" />
in the head for posterous to pick it up.

Re: From Posterous to Textpattern
ok, that’s weird. There is a article for the one I used for a test, but it’s not editable. Changes show on the admin side, but not then on the live side. Weird, is that just something that I’m going to have to live with?

amazing! so all you do is add the rel=“EditURI” link in your html? what else has to happen?
