I tried to stay out of this for some time now but here is what I think.
Pascal – or anybody else for that matter – has every legal right to hack/fork txp. Announcing it in this forum is also OK (by me at least) although posting his thread in the ‘announcements’ rather than the ‘general discussion’ was not appropriate. No problem there however as the thread was moved by Els.
Eric, Your work in the txp community IS appreciated and your plugins have become standards in many installs. Your particular post however was one of bad judgement on your behalf. This forum has a private messaging system and if you (or anybody) wanted to recruit people on forks/hacks, that system would be more appropriate.
As such I see a very big difference between announcing, informing, marketing strategies/advertising campaign and recruiting. To me at least, only the first two are ethically OK as far as this forum’s etiquette goes.
