Re: Categories give me a Site Not Found error - Ideas?

I looked for related problems but didn’t find one that specifically addressed this. FYI – I started using clean urls but my htaccess file didn’t seem to work so I ended up using ugly urls.

Your tag trace appears to be from a section page, not a category page.

Re: Categories give me a Site Not Found error - Ideas?

I can’t get to a category page. :(

I even installed another instance of textpattern to see if I could re-create the issue.

Here is the site the code is from: http://olgahow.com/site2/index.php?s=articles

And here is the second instance of textpattern: http://olgahow.com/uxsociety/

If you click on a category link on either of the sites you’ll get the error.

I’m not sure what the problem could be. Other than installing I haven’t touched the second instance.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!!

Category page and category page. Your category links are using clean urls that don’t work. Are you sure that permanent link mode in preferences is set to messy?

I double checked. The second one was not set to messy. So I set it and it worked. The first one however was set to messy.

One thing that happened while trying to create clean URLs…in the first instance…when I tried to remove the htaccess file it actually disappeared or hid. I’m not sure exactly what I did but I know I didn’t actually delete it. I don’t know how to check for invisible/hidden files however so I can’t really tell if the file is still there.

I just discovered that the URLs from within the category lists work (http://olgahow.com/site2/index.php?c=Design) see the right column categories. It’s only the category links from the excerpt that aren’t working.

Hmm

Maybe the problem is in here?

Must be the plugin that is creating the clean URLs. You’d better ask in the plugin thread.
