Section tab usability improvements

I’d like to see the following improvements to the “sections” tab. (and I want a pony…)

  1. One save button to rule them all. Frustrating to have to save… reload… save… reload… for a few sections.
  2. Show/Hide for each section Collapsed by default. Much like the show/hide detail in the article tab.

Thoughts?

Re: Section tab usability improvements

The first point I could live with or live without … Sections are touched so rarely that it seems a minor nuisance. On the other hand, I think the second idea is brilliant.

The first point I could live with or live without…

I’ve started working differently with TXP in order to cut down the <txp:if_section> database calls. That means assigning a page to a section, and calling a standard header and footer for that page via a form. Hence, some boring rote work, that a single save button would negate.

gP is great by the way…

Re: Section tab usability improvements

A list somewhat similar to the articles/categories tabs is what is likely to go into the core.

Granted. Are there any plans for an update of this tab or were you just saying that consistent behavior would be a prerequisite?

Likewise, it would be cool to add a dropdown at the top of the page to select which section is selected by default, instead of having that option repeated. I also believe all those other y/n options cause more hassle/confusion than being obliged to define them on pages (in the corresponding tags).

It’s somewhat straight-forward, just a matter of having the time to work on it, and the other stuff that needs to be fixed and added.
