Re: commercial plug-in request event calendar

Hi,

almost the same reason here. Working on my daughters band’s site and looking for a nice ‘small’ and easy to administer plugin for their gigs. So glad to help with specs and testing.

Re: commercial plug-in request event calendar

Peter,
When we have a release, I’ll be letting everyone know. Should be in the next month or so? No promises, but hopefully. We could use some funding at the moment if you are prepared to donate, even small amounts, please let me know via email.

Re: commercial plug-in request event calendar

Hey Matthew, just want to chime in with my own anticipation for this plugin. I’ve been considering migrating to a different CMS over this issue but I would really rather not.

Re: commercial plug-in request event calendar

Have ‘solved’ the issue for the moment with a combination of

rss_suparchive and smf_eventarticle

which allows to publish future dated events/articles. Works for us so far as it cover our current requirements.

Re: commercial plug-in request event calendar

Peter,
Good stuff. I hope we can unload the plugin soon. I’m waiting on hearing back from Team Textpattern shortly.

Re: commercial plug-in request event calendar

What will the difference be between jmc_event_manager and this new plugin?

It looks to be a bit more feature-rich, and less directly focused on band gigs (a drawback of the original, IMO). It’s worth noting, however, that development of jmc_event_manager appears to have resumed.

I imagine both plugins will find their own audiences. With one being commercial and the other free, I’m sure Joel’s plugin won’t lack for users. :-)

Re: commercial plug-in request event calendar

Logoleptic,
I’ve probably not been the clearest in this forum for want of making it clear that this plugin needs support, but this plugin will be released with a GPL (if I remember correctly) license. I have been raising support for the development of the plugin. It will be commercial, in the sense that it will be high zuit! :)

Mattmikulla,
The plugin has its own interface in the “write” tab (below) it. So that its not dependent on custom fields for instance. It comes complete with an extensive list of tags and display possibilities. I imagine that once released, we may see some variations or some extensions, per people’s specific needs. We’ll see?

I have asked for an initial release within the month. Any donations to support the final amount will make the release come sooner.

Whoops! Between the subject of the thread and Team Textpattern advertising their commercial services, I appear to have gotten mixed up.

Logoleptic,
Take that wallet back out! :)
We still need financial support to get this plugin released. It will be well worth it, I promise. If you think you benefit from this plugin for commercial purposes (ie: a client), please consider donating.

You can contact me directly for information.

Thanks,

Matthew

Re: commercial plug-in request event calendar

Will it output articles that have can have their own page or will it just list all events in order wherever a tag is placed?

If I am not mistaken, jmc_event_manager can’t create individual articles.

Re: commercial plug-in request event calendar

Matt,
Events are tied to articles, so that events in the grid calendar can have permlink urls, among other benefits. The full exploitation will come when more folks can look at it after release.
