500 Internal Error on First try for comments w/ 4.0.2

Greetings All Bug Aficianados,

When I attempt to place a comment on my website, it bounces back with an error message, “500 internal server error”, however, when I go back, and hit submit the second time, it works. Additionally, I am not receiving e-mails when I receive a comment.

Any thoughts?

And of course someone tests it out, and blip, and email pops. But yet when I do it, I get an error.

Yeah, bertelsen.ca… try entering the same email address as the author br4nd0n @ b3rt3ls3n . ca ( spam filtered, you’ll have to write it normally ).

happened to me with clean 4.0.2 install… submitting a few comments seemed to fix it… that and the blood of a chicken smeared on our txp fetish idol

I’ve got the same problem, except I receive the e-mail when the comment finally is submitted.

Of note:

1. The response is 302 OK, not 302 Found. Textpattern sends 302 Found (comment.php line 289).

2. There’s no Location: header, even though Textpattern sends one (lines 290-294).

A couple of things to try (one at a time, so we know which works):

1. Set your Production Status to debugging, and see if any PHP errors are displayed when trying to submit a comment

2. Remove or rename .htaccess
