Stopdesign Photo Gallery Templates

Bowman has made his gallery templates available for all to download … only hitch is that they use MT and MT plugins. Anyone think they could tackle and convert to work with TXP?

Re: Stopdesign Photo Gallery Templates

yes, finally! I saw his gallery a while back and he mentioned offhand that he might release them. Just simply the best template of this type that I’ve seen

After enduring years of Art School, mild mannered Owen Waring noticed some unusual changes… the constant bombardment of criticism, it seems, had altered his DNA. Half pixel pusher, half programmer, he had become…. THE BIZARTIST

Re: Stopdesign Photo Gallery Templates

Hi all, started initial work for porting the gallery templates.
As the templates are too specific for Movable type, there are certain features which will have to be left out.

My plan…

First port the <a href=“http://dbowman.com/photos/”>front page</a>. (glx_if) plugin will help for the page to be different to the normal default template.

I’m not sure how <a href=“http://dbowman.com/photos/galleries/”>gallery Archive</a> can be ported… Any ideas welcome…

I was thinking that <a href=“http://dbowman.com/photos/copenhagen05/”>Gallery Title</a> could become a section or category list page but this would make it very hard for beginners… Again, do post some ideas here…

<a href=“http://dbowman.com/photos/copenhagen05/gallery/”>Photo gallery</a> could be ported and I could hopefully automate it with the help of one of the existing gallry plugins (I’m not a php coder so please do not ask me to write a specific plugin as I wouldn’t know where to start:)

<a href=“http://dbowman.com/photos/copenhagen05/gallery/fountain-2.php”>Individual photo</a> can be ported but its funcionality will not be the same as in the original set. ie it will not provide a larger view of an image clicked from <a href=“http://dbowman.com/photos/copenhagen05/gallery/”>photo gallery</a>. <a href=“http://dbowman.com/photos/copenhagen05/gallery/fountain-2.php”>Individual photo</a> could be a separate section or form.

<a href=“http://dbowman.com/photos/comments/”>recent comments</a> can not be ported as we have no such capability in txp yet (ie a page where only recent comments are displayed). It could be used though as an article list template…

Your input is welcome…

Re: Stopdesign Photo Gallery Templates

Yay.
I’m not a coder, and sadly can’t use txp very well. But I looked at mt, wordpress and txp and intuitively felt that txp was superior. Unforunately it was at a less developed stage (a few months ago), lacking features and themes that the other cms.s have lots of.

It’s changing.

Are you sure about that? There is a tag <code><txp:recent_comments /></code>. That might have the capabilities you want. Here is more information on that. (You should be able to just put that in a page).

txp:recent_comments info

Hi blumie607,

I am aware of the recent comments tag but txp has no capability to my knowledge to output the content of the comments posted for different articles in one page. Txp can output the author’s name and the title of the article which the author postedthe comment in.
