AMP with Homebrew

This dated “BAMP” tutorial is interesting. Not because the three components are entirely managed with brew, but because of all the little extra things it works in, like the port firewall, the SSL allowance, and so forth. Things I’ve not bothered thinking about before.

I’ve been a bit of a puritan, perhaps to a fault, with my Mac AMP setup for a while now, always opting for the native binaries whenever possible; jumping back and forth with PHP hookups and only using Homebrew for the M part of the stack. Packages like MAMP and XAMPP, etc, don’t appeal to me.

But that brew tutorial has got me thinking for the first time in years about trying it differently.

Then again, don’t wake a sleeping dog, right?
