Test My Site @ Think With Google - Mobile Friendliness Testing Site

Google’s new testing site for mobile friendliness and speed of loading:

Test My Site @ Think With Google.

4.6’s new front side theme did pretty well. Though it particularly dislikes the “render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content” and suggests the html and css should be minified.

Re: Test My Site @ Think With Google - Mobile Friendliness Testing Site

Minified CSS files would not be readable on the CSS panel (or would have to be an extra CSS entry). So my hands are tied somewhat. Same for HTML.

CSS is by its nature render-blocking as it needs to load before the render.

The JavaScript I assume is the Google Font linkage (as that is the only JS I’m aware of in the theme). Again not anything I can do about that (apart from remove the font which I don’t wish to do) as it needs to load before page render. Otherwise you get FOUC which is worse in my opinion.

Re: Test My Site @ Think With Google - Mobile Friendliness Testing Site

No worries Phil!

My main purpose was to share the link to the testing a site, not to bring criticism of the new front side theme. I tested a handful of sites last night, including the link above. (I was curious how Google’s site would fair in their own test).

Of the sites I tested, Google rated their own site the highest (though strangely not with 100s across the board – so even they can’t meet their standards!).

Your new theme came in with the next highest score. I shared because it did so well and I was impressed. I included the two criticisms they offered just as a fwiw.

It’s a well done theme!

There are so many sites on the internet that don’t “measure” up. to some ideal.

about the only thing i would be concerned about is that site be mobile friendly.
