Yup, I think Gruber got involved in that take over/merge/… out of interest for Textpattern (and the further development of it). I seem to recall he quite liked it, Daringfireball has some quite positive posts about it.

Glad you pointed that out. It’s also info I didn’t know. Saved me some embarrassment, perhaps. ;)

I’ve never really followed/read Gruber. I just kind of know him as the ultimate Apple fanboy and creator of Markdown, but maybe that’s not fair.
