Unable to register my datbase

I’m struggling to get to the point where I can use TextPattern. I’m at the stage of registering my database.

The (French) C-Panel of hosteur.com (my Web hosting firm) says:

Type = Mysql

Domain = maindomain.fr

Server = clustermysql02.hosteur.com

Name of database= joanna_textpattern

User name= joanna_textpattern

Password= “**************

At “Set database details”, TextPattern says:

My SQL login= **********

My SQL password= “**************

My SQL server= clustermysql02.hosteur.com

My SQL database= joanna_textpattern

Web reachable addres of your site= www.michelselig.fr

which seems to be identical to my C-Panel info, but TextPatttern gives me the following rejection message:

Warnng: mysql_connect (): Access denied for user ********@219.16.10.47 (using password YES) in
/var/www/vhosts/FilerWeb02:michelselig;fr/httpdocs/textpatternsetup/index/php on line 300

Warning: mysql_connect(): My SQL server has gone away in /var/www/vhosts/FilerWeb02:michelselig;fr/httpdocs/textpatternsetup/index/php on line 304
Can’t connect to database

What do I do now?

Thanks,

lisaby

Re: Unable to register my datbase

First snag I spotted was your server (clustermysql02.hosteur.com) is not resolving to the IP address thrown by the error (219.16.10.472) and currently resolves to 217.16.10.24 instead. Colak/Destry: did you edit the IP address for sensitivity?

@lisaby: is the Textpattern error message an exact copy+paste or was it hand-typed in? There’re some strange things in the file path, is all.

Re: Unable to register my datbase

Welcome to “Textpattern”, lisaby.

Here’s an FAQ on it: textpattern.com/faq/231/how-do-i-create-a-mysql-database

Others might be able to help you further if it’s really a Textpattern problem and not just your database or database configuration somewhere. If so, you’ll need to contact your web host to get that part figured out first. It’s probably just a file path or config issue somewhere.

Not me. I added “bq..” and “p.” only. Touched nothing else.

Re: Unable to register my datbase

Try using:

MySQL database= joanna_textpattern
MySQL login= joanna_textpattern
MySQL password= **************
MySQL server= localhost

If “localhost” won’t work, you may need clustermysql02.hosteur.com. You can also ask your host via their online chat panel.

Re: Unable to register my datbase

I’m guessing localhost isn’t going to work, judging by the Hosteur db server FQDN. Interestingly, the 219.16.10.47 IP is in a Softbank block (219.0.0.0219.63.255.255) — out of Japan. Hosteur operate from 217.16.8.0 to 217.16.12.255, so something’s not right here.

My guess is for user input error, DNS trouble or something I’ve overlooked.

Re: Unable to register my datbase

My thanks to Destry and gaekwad for your rapid responses.

Since posting my question, my site became inaccessible by FTP. I have to solve that problem before being able to apply your advice.

I hope you won’t hear from me – with a problem – for a good while.

Re: Unable to register my datbase

You should check if the MySQL user has sufficient privileges, like select, insert etc., with the database.

Re: Unable to register my datbase

She doesn’t get far enough to do selects and such. The error already occurs when connecting to the database. I’d start with checking if all the supplied info is correct, as gaekwad suggests.

When you got that error message, was that while still on the “Set database details” screen, and then you couldn’t advance? Or was it after you advanced to the next screen where Txp says “Checking database connection”?

I’m asking because I’m rewriting the installation instructions and want to get specifics clear on where errors are thown.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Unable to register my datbase

Hi,

My work with TextPattern is a background activity, so I tend to forget things between using it.

I re-created my TextPattern folder and I’m now dealing with phpmyadmin.

I’m thus unable to recreate the situation of my original enquiry to the Forum and I have no precise recollection of what happened.

Sorry
