Re: [resolved] [Solved] 403 error on longer articles

Hi again

Did you bring the matter to the attention of the host? If yes, what was their response?

Re: [resolved] [Solved] 403 error on longer articles

No; I’m not totally clear it’s the host’s issue, seeing as I only have this problem with Textpattern. I’m on the cheap plan of a rather large host (namecheap), and while they’re very good for the price, I don’t think they’ll change policies for me.

So far my fix had been to edit articles/stylesheets directly in the database, which is a clunky process, but shows you how much I like Textpattern =p.

It seems like all the fixes for this revolve around the host/apache policies, and since those are out of my control, I may end up digging through the code and finding what chokes on long pieces of posted text.

Unfortunately that’s no guarantee. I’ve had an issue with a site and cloned it to a different subdomain on the same host, just for testing purposes. The problem never occurred on the subdomain, but remained on the primary domain. Go figure. Contacted the host, they edited some anti-spam rule or another and it was resolved.

This happens all the time. Unfortunately I don’t know if it’s just the way data is packaged up by Textpattern that makes it more susceptible to tripping filters, or if it’d occur under different systems, maybe under a different set of circumstances. So…

… if you do happen to find anything we could tweak to improve matters, we’d love to receive a pull request. Thanks in advance for any sleuthing,
