Site logs me out

I have been having trouble with the cms, where it would always log me out if I click on any button links in the cms after I log in. I also get lots of bugs that are output as text on the pages, for example:

“Deprecated: Function set_magic_quotes_runtime() is deprecated in /home/westrestaurant/westrestaurant/menus/textpattern/lib/txplib_db.php on line 14”

Please advise,

Re: Site logs me out

Hey kinlodesigns – you need to upgrade the website to a more recent version of Textpattern. Your install is very old (about 8 years) and an upgrade to Textpattern CMS should be considered top of the priority list, for your own sanity and security-related reasons. Upgrade instructions are here – shout if you need assistance

I thought of that but the server specs might be old too. It’s good to know more info.

Oh yes, absolutely.

My reasoning, perhaps incorrectly, was that the server was running OK (i.e., no error messages) with the existing version (which took <30 seconds to confirm thanks to the checksums.txt) and a PHP and/or MySQL upgrade has been done that triggered the error(s). The error(s) is/are appearing in the front end, so I figure the previous dev mentioned in the page source has left the building and left Textpattern in Testing mode. Rookie mistake.

I was also deliberately careful to say more recent and not the latest version just in case there was a snag somewhere preventing an upgrade to 4.5.x in one transaction.

Thanks I will do that. I’m new to using Text Pattern as I am just taking over as the web developer for this company. I am not aware of what has happened in the past to get to this state. However I will do the upgrade and hopefully it will get rid of those issues.

Thanks for your help.

The txp version you are using is always on the bottom of the admin-side pages

php and mysql versions can be found when you go to admin>diagnostics
