TXP 4.30 can't post iFrame in Excerpt
I am working on a site that’s running TXP 4.30. Everything was fine but now suddenly I am unable to put YouTube code into the excerpt field. Indeed, cannot even add an <iframe> tag. If I try to publish the article, a 404 error is returned and the article is not saved.
<iframe> tags can be added to the Body field without error.
No change has been made to the site in several years, so I can’t see what the problem would be.
The diagnostic info follows, as well as a list of active plugins.
Is this a known bug? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

p.s. the site has no problem with <embed> or <object> tags in the Excerpt, only <iframe>. also, I am running a different site on 4.30 and that site has no problem accepting <iframe> in an Excerpt. thanks

Have you tried saving with an iframe whose source is on your site?

thanks for the suggestion, Uli. Excerpt will not accept even an empty tag like this: <iframe>
i have subsequently done clean installs in a dev subdomain of both 4.3.0 and 4.4.1 and in neither case did that fix the problem, so i now suspect the web host is preventing <iframe> from being inserted. just did a test and <script> cannot be inserted into Excerpt either — although both can be inserted into the Body! not clear why Body would be permitted and not Excerpt.
another site i manage is running 4.3.0 on a different host and has no problem like this. it’s starting to look like we’ll need to change hosting provider.

It does sound like a problem with the host tripping some security filter or something. Random stuff like this is normally the host being over-zealous. I usually contact them and ask about it, citing as much detail as I can about what I’m saving and where, then magically the next day my saves work ok and they close the ticket!
Not sure if this advice from wet is any help. See later in the thread for an explanation on how it works. Long shot, but it might act as a band aid for now.

Can’t tell whether this here or this applies for your situation, but certainly easier bolted on (and removed if useless) than changing a hoster.
