@net-carver: All good then. :)

@gocom: That’s what I thought. Thanks.

Destry, of course TXP can be installed over FTP. It’s just that SFTP or installing it from the command line after logging in over SSH is more secure, so that’s why I prefer doing it that way and why I think we should suggest doing this to our users.

I have used SFTP everywhere for years except for GoDaddy, but I notice they support it now as well. Any hosting provider that doesn’t support SFTP at this point is doing their customers a disservice.

@ruud

I realize. What I was getting at, but didn’t say very well (sorry) is if we should bother changing the title of the article “FTP Installation” to SFTP Installation. But I don’t think it’s necessary if they both work. We can simply emphasize the point in the documentation that it’s always better to use SFTP.

Re: [wiki] Txp 4.0.5 to 4.4.1 Upgrade notes...

Yesterday i’ve upgraded a textpattern install from 4.0.5 to 4.4.1 – I thought everything went fine till i visited the “forms“tab.
The forms aren’t listed anymore (but they ARE there because the site still parses everything fine.

Also, i can’t access the “extensions“tab anymore (a “reserved area” error shows on)

Anything i’ve forgot to do? Any help on this will be appreciated!

For the records, diagnostics are ok and website it’s hosted on Dreamhost.

They’re categorised now. Click the twisties (Article / File / Link /Misc / etc) in the right sidebar and see if they appear beneath.

Nope. I’ve just noticed that the left menu (Tag constructor) it’s also not working (nothing shows when i click). I took a look at the source code of the page and the links to edit the forms are there, maybe it’s a javascript issue?

But in the other hand, if i copy one link on the source code of the page to edit a form (say i have a form called “dynamic_footer” and the link is index.php?event=form&step=form_edit&name=footer_dinamico&_txp_token=d02124fa53f8cba874ecec2a48403c4d) and paste it on the address bar, nothing happens either (the form tab initial page loads, without the content of “dynamic_footer”).

Thx for your (incredible quick) reply Bloke

Allright, it wasen’t a textpattern related problem but a browser related problem. I was using Chrome and then opened the admin site on Firefox and the links are working.

I still have the issue with the “extensions” tab and it’s “reserved area” error.

See FAQ: My plugin’s Extension sub-tab has gone missing article.

Basically, that is a plugin issue. The plugin you are accessing is out-dated. Pre-4.0.6 plugin panel permissions weren’t enforced. Since 4.0.6 plugins that didn’t implement permissions, broke. Update the plugin, or if there are no updates available contact the author (or look if there are alternatives).

The problem has been solved. Must say, it’s nice to know that there are some active jedis on the textpattern community.
Thx a lot
