The clean url test failed message is usually caused by .htaccess missing or corrupted. Do you have .htaccess placed in the root folder of your Textpattern installation?

yea its in the root folder. The .htaccess folder may be corrupted … if i delete it I can get to the homepage without adding index.php at the end.

Ok im sure it has to do with the host, server may not allow clean urls. The code works with my other host.

Go to the site preferences. At “Permanent link mode” try the first option “?=dirty.
Go to the diagnosys tab (have you deleted the “setup” folder?) and paste the diagnosys information here at the forum. That info will help people to figure out what is your problem.

Yes that would make sense. The .htaccess file works on most hosts, but yours may have some issues. Best check with support.

Hi
but textpattern works without htaccess you can delete it if it not works, but go to admin/pref and set url scheme to messy and you can have all links working.
It s better ti fix the problem with your host because using clean url is better than messy url for SEO

Hello all, I did change the “permenant link mode” to messy and that didnt seem to work. And yes i did delete the setup folder. If I change the “perm link mode” to messy though, I pass all diagnostics tests and the blog would still fail to reach its links. When I deleted the .htaccess file the homepage will load, but links to “about” and “ articles” fail.

What tags are used to link to the ‘about’ and ‘articles’ sections? If the links are hardcoded as clean URL’s they won’t work in messy mode. You can use one of these to make them work regardless of the permanent link mode you are using:
