I deleted the subdomain name for textpattern, not the TXP directories

My old subdomain was http://txp.mysite.com. I went to the site control panel and deleted the subdomain.

After doing this I can no longer log onto http:/www.mysite.com/txp/textpattern. All of my logins fail.

Pointing the browser to http://www.mysite.com/txp brings up the index.php page all right, but the css is missing, and clicking all of the links bring up the textpattern login page.

How can I fix this, short of a total re-install?

Thanks,

Harry

Hi Harry

You will need to edit config.php file to point to the new paths.
Also – once you log in – you’ll need to change the site_url in the preferences as well as the paths.

Did that. Except that I didn’t need to change anything in it as everything in it is proper.

Also used phpmyadmin to hack into txp_pbs_lk.preferences table, and changed the file paths there to www.mysite.com.

Now my home page shows with correct css, but still can not log into www.mysite.com/txp/textpattern.

txp_pbs_lk.preferences table,

Is this a table from a plugin? What you need to edit is the site in the txp_prefs table

Re: I deleted the subdomain name for textpattern, not the TXP directories

using phpmyadmin, I browse txp_prefs, and note the following fields:
field site_url: www.mysitel.com/txp <which is as it should be>
path_to_site: C:\Inetpub\vhosts\mysite.com\httpdocs\txp <which is as it was before>

(As you can see, my site is hosted on a Windows server, if this makes any difference.)

OK here’s what happens precisely.

I point my browser to http://www.mysite.com/txp/index.php — and my home page comes up properly. (I was still working on it, so it still has the much of the boilerplate text from the txp standard “Welcome to my pithy slogan site”.)

I click on the “preferences” link, and my browser jumps to
www.mysite.com/textpattern/index.php?event=prefs. This is wrong. It would be correct if the subdomain were still present. Should it not point to
www.mysite.com/ txp /textpattern/index.php?event=prefs?

So when I manually point the browser to http://www.bps.lk/txp/textpattern/index.php, I get the admin login page, but all my good user names provoke the response: “Could not login with that name/password.”

Still scratching my head.

I’ll bet it would work if I re-establish the domain.

But then, how do I know this won’t happen again when I try to move the site to www.mysite.com?

Thanks to all who have helped.
