[howto] Control snowfall on your website with adi_variables

Not sure if it’s OK to just link to one’s own tutorial here, but I’ve written one on controlling snowfall on your website with adi_variables.

Re: [howto] Control snowfall on your website with adi_variables

Great tip maruchan! Hope you don’t mind I’ve made the jQuery part into a plugin based on your tip. With the plugin you can simply use:

<txp:if_variable name="snowflakes" value="on">
<txp:msd_snowflakes/>
</txp:if_variable>

Merry Christmas!

Very cool, Matt. I’m not able to download the plugin though…do I need to donate first? Maybe I’m not seeing the correct link.

No donation necessary! I just had to tell rah_plugin_download it was ok to let folks download it. Should work now.

Right on, that worked. I’ve updated the tutorial page with the information, as well as a fix for a bug in Firefox.

Wow, very nice, thank you both! I really hate real life snow, but I like it on my site ;)

Edit: I wish I could make it pile up at the bottom ;)

Nice guys!

a fwiw — I tried putting the txp tag for Matt’s plugin in the <head></head>. Showed in the source, but no snowflakes. Moved to the body and worked perfect. I don’t have time to figure out why right now (probably something I’m clueless on re: js.). But in case it wasn’t operator error, thought I’d mention it.

I’ve just updated the plugin to fix this.

Re: [howto] Control snowfall on your website with adi_variables

Very nice, I remember last year going on some Wordpress sites and seeing the falling snow.

I have a question, why does the falling flakes cause my CPU to spike up? I’m using Firefox 3.6.12 on Windows 7.

Yikes, No idea since I didn’t write the jQuery plugin that’s doing that work. Sorry.

I’ve created a forum post for the plugin to keep track of questions or issues.
