Staying OT for a second, would MLP be a contender to benefit from its own wiki page? Not a replacement for the plugin help, but stuff additional to it, i.e. info surrounding the current issues, Steve’s ToDo list, fix list etc, plus any tips/tricks that people have found and posted here in the thread that help …

+1
The MLP is not a simple plugin and it represents one of the strengths of txp so – unlike other plugins – it deserves a place in textbook IMHO.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

I agree that MLP should have a Wiki page in Textbook. I’ve actually skimmed this entire thread at least twice when I was having trouble. It’d be great to have a more efficient way to get detailed info about MLP.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Two more questions, if they have been answered before, please just say so and I’ll search once again… (+1 from me for a Textbook page!)

  1. Newly created articles don’t show up in the MLP > articles tab, only the (one) article that already existed when MLP was installed is displayed there (v0.8.7, local install).
  2. Is there a way to enter snippets in javascript code? I’d like to localize the text in this line: closeTip : "Click to close", but if I replace ‘Click to close’ with ‘##closetip##’, that’s exactly what it displays. (The js code is in the head section of my page.)

Re…

1) Is that site on the internet? If so, could you allow me to login and track this down.

2) If you’re JS not in an external file but in a page/form then you should be able to do it (I think.)

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Steve, thanks for replying.

  1. No, unfortunately not, I’m rebuilding an existing site (that has to remain live until my rebuild is finished) and I can’t develop the new site in a subdomain because MLP doesn’t work in subdomains (I think that is still the case? I didn’t actually try it). So I’m developing it locally. I’ll try if I can reproduce it on a live install, if so I’ll report back.
  2. It doesn’t work if the snippet is put directly in the javascript (doesn’t matter if it’s on a page or in a form), the snippet also doesn’t show up in the Snippets > Pages/Forms tab. But I’ve found a way :) I put the snippet in a form and have this in the script (in the head section of the page): closeTip : "<txp:output_form form="js_flyout" />", …and that works!

Edit: re #1: I copied the site to a subdomain, it appears to work exactly like the local install. I will send you a login.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

All

Els’ problem is with a very new dev4 version of Txp. Wet has already pointed out one change in the code that affects the MLP Pack but the recent addition of labels for the title and body fields on the write tab broke the insertion point for MLP’s language and group variables in Els’ setup leading to the postings above. This is tentatively fixed in my development version and I hope to post it (along with a few other updates) soon.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Could we provide any hooks in the markup to prevent such havoc in the future?

Robert

Hi, that was a fast reply! :)

As this is not really an MLP-only thing but potentially a more generic plugin issue, perhaps either a new thread or the plugin dev mailing list would be a good place to bat this around? I think other plugin authors might be able to contribute to such a discussion.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Got the Dutch and English site nearly finished, this plug-in is soooo cool!!! But can’t solve a small URL problem.

Example:
I have a section called “What” in English and “Wat” in Dutch, but the URL that is output in English is "mysite.com/en/wat" and I am trying to get "mysite.com/en/what"

I did my homework and found thread back on page 27 that suggested the use of <txp:section_list sections="wat" /> but this still outputs the dutch section name.

The section has the correct English translation?

What am i missing?

#009 perhaps? ;)

On the site I’m currently working on I worked around it by using the /title permlink mode.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

sorry but could you elaborate with an example,

<li id="wat"><a href="<txp:site_url />##page_wat##" title="##page_wat_title##">##page_wat_title##<span></span></a></li>
<li id="wat"><txp:section_list sections="wat" /><span></span></li> -->
<li id="wat"><span><txp:section_list sections="wat" title="1" link="1" /></span></li>
<li id="wat"><span><txp:section name="wat" title="1" link="1" /></span></li>

tried this tooo00

<li id="wat"><span><txp:permlink><txp:section name="wat" title="1" /></txp:permlink></span></li>
…but apparently the context is wrong for the Permlink even though this is in an article form?
