Gaia, a blog template for Textpattern

Gaia is a Textpattern template with a clear focus on content and simplicity beside beauty and elegance. It is carefully crafted, thoroughly tested and provides wide customization capabilities.

Demo: http://www.textplates.com/browser/22/
Download: http://www.textplates.com/file_download/77

A quick overview of features

From the users perspective:

  • Flexible design that looks beautiful on any resolution (and with any font size)
  • Rich formatting of content, designed on a subtle grid
  • Content-focused, no redundant functionality (less is more)
  • Thoroughly tested and works great in myriads of browsers (handheld devices included)
    • Tested in FF 2, Safari 2/3b, IE 5/5.5/6/7, Opera 9 and even Opera Mini 4b

From the developers perspective:

  • Carefully crafted code architecture
    • All pages have valid XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS code
    • Unobtrusive JS for minor decorations (degrades gracefully)
  • Provides great deal of customization out of the box
    • Separation of type/layout and colors/decorations in CSS
    • Vector graphics provided in the distribution
    • Try this while viewing the demo: disable the ‘autumn.css’ stylesheet on the page (with Firebug, Web Developer or something similar). Enjoy.
  • Microformats everywhere:
    • hAtom feeds for article list and comments
    • utilizes abbr datetime pattern
    • hCard for article/comment authors
    • rel-bookmark, rel-tag (thanks TXP)

Plugins used: an7_comments (John Einselen), cbs_navigation_menu (Christophe Beyls) and jnm_categories (Juanjo Navarro).

Vladimir,
That’s a superb piece of work!

I haven’t dug into the detail, but it’s truly a work of creative excellence… Well done indeed.

You have to be a favourite for a second win on Textplate!

You’ve done it again, Vlad! Stunning. I love it when I resize the window – very nice touch. You’ve certainly got an eye for the beautiful. Well done!

Re: Gaia, a blog template for Textpattern

Thanks guys! I’m really glad you like it, because I put a lot of effort into this work.

All the work is done and sent to Tom, now it only needs to be processed and set up in the template browser, – then it will be ready for download.

Re: Gaia, a blog template for Textpattern

I’m having problems with the installation accessing the static content. I am attempting to install this on a sub domain (where the textpattern app works fine) – could this be the problem?

Re: Gaia, a blog template for Textpattern

Richard, could you describe the problem in detail (with the link to the installation)?
