Disable textile for comments?
I looked around and couldn’t find an answer to this one… is it possible to disable textile for comments?

HTML, Here’s my thinking:
One the backside of sites I prefer to use tinyMCE for a text editor. It’s confusing to have clients and contributors learn two formatting systems, so I started thinking about running tinyMCE on the front-end for comments.
Now, I assume from your response that textile is pretty much the way comments are intended to be formatted, and perhaps they are stored with textile formatting in the database. Perhaps there are very good reasons why this should not/could not be altered.
As with everything else, If I don’t know, I ask, and in this case I don’t know.
So, that said, is there?

You shouldn’t use HTML alone, you will have to also clean the HTML afterwards. Otherwise it’s a very bad move.
…are intended to be formatted…
It is, in 4.0.x anyway. The function that controls it is markup_comment() in txplib_misc.php.
