Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_nav

Hi there maniqui. I just wanted to say that I swear I haven’t forgotten all about this — I’ve just been rather busy as of late.

But, when I get some time, I’ll definately look into some of the stuff you mentioned.

And a quick though: yes, I do use my own plugin on my site We’re All Afraid… . I simply use an oldver version, as I really have no need to update it on that site.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_nav

Firstly – thanks for the plugin – it is very useful.

Here is my feature request: I would find it very useful to give a class to the First Child and Last Child in a list. This opens a bit of a can of worms with your plugin already asigning the class ‘active’. Hence in order to achieve this, you’d need to assign the following when relevant:

  • firstchild-active
  • firstchild
  • lastchild-active
  • lastchild

For those of you wondering how this could be used: the simplest example is a list with dividers in-between but not at the end eg:

HOME | ABOUT | ARCHIVE | CONTACT

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_nav

Hey there, those features shouldn’t be too hard to integrate. As soon as I get some time, I’ll roll out a new version with the first child / last child support as well as a feature to make the class=“active” be something other than active. This might not be for a few weeks as I’m kind of busy at the moment, but I promise that once I can do it I will.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_nav

this is not particularly important…

but you can’t have a comma within a navigation item e.g. “Your Team, Your Say” …

perhaps the ‘title’ strings could be enclosed in quotation marks or similar?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_nav

This plugin is wonderful and save a lot of time. Latest version is fully customizable, thank you for that!

I just want to let you know some thing I’d find useful:

1. I agree with Vitruvius requests: it could be useful to have a specific class for first and last item in the list. It’s not my need now, but I remember a site on whick I worked, it would have needed this.

2. It would be great if your plugin could be aware if we’re in a section home or in an individual article page. In a section home, with currlink=0 we should not have the link, but in the individual article we should! From individual article we can go to the section home!

I hope it’s clear what I mean. At the moment I go thru this by using txp conditionals for serving 2 different ako_nav settings if we’re in articlelist or individual article. It works fine, so it’s not really that necessary. But it would be nice a plugin that can manage that issue by itself.

Anyway, my favorite plugin for navigation: thanks! :)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_nav

hi,

I had to give up using rdt_dynamenus, because it didn’t add the class=”active” to the active section, so i installed ako_nav.
But if i install it and put it on, my apache crashes. i didn’t even use it. i just put it on and opend the frontend. the cpu usage of my server goes on 99% and stays there.

thanks for any help.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_nav

@yeah: What other plugins are you using? I’ve never heard of someone having this issue, and quite frankly, I don’t see how that’d be possible.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_nav

You are using the latest version of the plugin, v.9.1, right?

Uhm, other than that, I don’t really know what to tell you…

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ako_nav

Well, my only guess is that it might be something with PHP 5.1.1.

If I get a chance today, I’ll load that up on my computer and give it a whirl. Got some stuff to take care of at the moment, so it won’t be for a few hours at least, but I’ll try to get to it today.
