[plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr
Hello!
I have written a plugin to view my flickr.com pictures in textpattern.
This plugin will only work with PHP5 and SimpleXML or PHP 4.3.X and DOM-XML enabled.
Features
vdh_flickr is a full-featured gallery plugin for textpattern, using a classical three-step system: First, you are shown a set (=album) preview page, then a thumbnail page, and an image page afterwards. The Demo shows the default configuration.
But you can leave out any step, so you can for example leave out the set preview or both the set preview and thumbnails to show an individual image.
- sets:
- show all sets except of a list of sets
- show no sets except of a list of sets
- show set title, description, number of photos
- tags:
- show a list of thumbnails that are associated with a certain tag, or a list of tags (AND / OR combination possible)
- show a list of all your tags
- show a list of your X most popular tags (where X is a number)
- thumbnails:
- show a list of thumbnails that are associated with a set
- show a list of thumbnails of your latest X pics
- show a list of thumbnails that are associated with a certain tag, or a list of tags (AND / OR combination possible)
- show a random selection of X pics of a set / a list of tags / your Y latest pics (handy for badges)
- a click on a thumbnail can open the individual image in the same window / a new window / in flickr
- flash slideshow of current thumbnails
- individual image:
- show image title and description
- show date posted and date taken
- link back to the set or tag list
- link to the previous and next image of a set / the photostream
- show a thumb of the previous and next image
- show a list of tags associated with the current image
- when an individual image is clicked, link it to a specific url / the original sized image / the image on flickr.com / the image information page on flickr.com
- pagination:
- pagination for all kind of thumbnail lists
- show current page
- link to previous/next/first/last page
- show list of pages
- show total number of images
- show range of images that is displayed
- general:
- specify the sizes for set preview, thumbnail and individual image
- show private pics, too
- clean urls (sgb_url_handler and .htaccess tweak needed)
- valid XHTML 1.0 Strict in default configuration
- tweakable XHTML via forms

I’ll repost this question here because it is connected to this.
Is there a way to make it so that the pictures are directly connected to the page of the picture on flickr?

EDIT: I think that somethng like this could work by having your flickr url http://flickr.com/photos/yournumber@N00/picturenumber/ and then outputting the picture number into that url. That would be awesome if you could get this to work.

No, this will only work with php5 and SimpleXML enabled. I do only have access to a php5 host, and I guess porting it over to php4 will be complicated. Furthermore, I think it is only a matter of time until all hosts provide php5.

hmmm
-i got my key from flickr
-installed the plugin
-activated it
-created a section called ‘photogal’
-made a new article put the tag in the body (no title), then selected the section ‘photogal’
-publish’ed it
-went to my site “/photogal”
and got a blank page…
i’m using TP Rc3 rev224 hosted on texdrive…
… any ideas?

i got it working on TXP rc3, i had to add a couple lines to my .htacess file so that i could serve up the pages with PHP 5, but jason wrote me saying that TD.one will be updated to 5 this week…
i did however have some issues using the plug from a subdirectory within my domain… that i’m trying to work through
i also noticed with RC3 that clean mode: section/id/title works the best, with /title i couldn’t call the section directly…

thanks very much for thinking of me and providing that advice.
i should have posted back in here much earlier.. it did get solved..
Ralph was thoroughly courteous and might even consider adding a few new features to the next version of vdh_flickr;
since adding lines to my .htaccess file was breaking my site, i put a support ticket to textdrive and received me a reply a few minutes later that php5 was set to go for my domain, and all was well.
i did run into that section issue also… but once i figured out what the issue was, i’m pleased since my preference for clean url format is section/id/title/ anyway..
