Markdown in a release Textpattern version?

Hi,

I’m using Textpattern for a programming blog so I post a lot of code snippets into my articles.

I’d like to use Markdown, because many codes is written in it already (on Stackoverflow i.e.), but it seems there is no support for it?
I have found some discussions, but they were targeted to 4.6+ version which is not final (when it will be btw? 4.5.7 is here more than a year) and I want to run the release version.

PS: is there a possibility to make an empty row in block of code in Textile?

this is a block of code
this is also block of code

this is not a block of code anymore, but I would like it to be
