4.6 languages

testing 4.6

I found something in the languages pane.

I updated the language, en-gb on a testing site. Now I get an install link for a textpack which is older that the one I have.

Up-to-date 17 Mar 2016 10:52:49 Install Feb 18, 10:35 AM...

Is this because I am using a dev version or is it a bug?

This is the same behaviour as always. The ‘install’ link to which you refer is the one to install from file.

If you open the textattern/lang/en-gb.txt file you’ll see the first line has a timestamp in it (currently 1455784556). That’s the date the file was last updated and corresponds with the date you see alongside the ‘install’ link in the admin side.

So if you choose to install lang strings from that file, it will install older versions of the strings than those on the RPC server. It takes your language strings back to an ‘as shipped’ state (as far as possible, though any new strings from the RPC server will remain). Does that make sense?

Hi Stef
I see now:) It is only visible when you click the “Show more detail” checkbox which I have to admit, I never did.

Does that make sense?

Indeed it does after you explain it but in this case (which is visible by default) maybe instead of just Install it should read something like revert to initially installed file dated xxxxx.
